This now paves the way for PBS and MBS access for Nurse Practitioners. The ACNP is pleased to continue working with the Minister on the secondary legislation including the details around collaborative model.

ACNP will circulate our definition of collaboration to all members.

"I congratulate the senate on making the right choice for consumers and nurse practitioners," she said.

"This is a historic decision and is a great first step in improving health care in Australia."

"We still have to work out the details but this is good news. These highly qualified and skilled nurses will offer the community greater choice and access to healthcare."

"Those who seek the services of a nurse practitioner will now be able to access some benefits and that means an improvement in healthcare accessibility."

"Nurse practitioners are capable of providing a wide variety of care which can help people not only avoid emergency departments but also maintain better health in city, regional, rural and remote areas."
