The Victorian Chapter will be conducting three meetings during 2010, all of which will be held at the Nurses Board Victorian located in the central business district and close to Southern Cross Station which is beneficial for our regional members.

The Chapter will also be holding a Professional Development event in March 2010 with further details available on the ACNP website in the near future.

A recent initiative in Victoria has been the commencement of the Victorian Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner Collaborative which aims to assist with the development, support and mentorship of palliative care nurse practitioners across regional and metropolitan services.

The collaboration is been led by the Centre for Palliative Care, Education and Research.

Nurse Practitioners applaud access to Pharmaceutical and Medical Benefits Scheme rebates for their patients

The Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) congratulates the Rudd Government on their visionary decision to approve nurse practitioners to prescribe within the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and for patients to receive rebates from the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) for diagnostic tests and referrals.

In a breakthrough for the health of all Australians, last night the Federal Government allocated significant funds to reimburse patient’s costs when they receive care from nurse practitioners.
