The Victorian chapter executive will be meeting in the next few weeks, and the meeting dates will be decided for the next 12 months. We will be conducting 3-4 meetings during 2012.

The Victorian Chapter will also be holding another Professional Development event in 2012, following the success of the 2011 event held in September, and details will be available on the ACNP website.

An initiative in Victoria has been the commencement of the Victorian Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner Collaborative, which aims to assist with the development, support and mentorship of palliative care nurse practitioners across regional and metropolitan services.

The collaboration is been led by the Centre for Palliative Care, Education and Research.

Re: Nurse Practitioner Network: Aged Care /Gerontology

We are in the process of determining the level of interest for the development of an Aged Care/Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Network in Victoria.
It is anticipated that the group will be established along similar lines to the other NP network groups providing educational and professional development opportunities as well as support and guidance for candidates and newly endorsed NP's.

As there are both Metro and Rural NP's and candidates we propose that the meetings be rotated through Melbourne and various rural sites to allow all participants the opportunity to host a meeting.
There will also be a discussion thread available on the forum on the ACNP website - Vic Chapter for group use.
We plan to meet a minimum of every 2 months for a full day meeting on a Friday (negotiable)
The meetings will be facilitated through 2 NP's - Cheryl Donohue NP in Melbourne and Deanne Burge NP in Wangaratta

We are collecting names with a view to launch the group early next year, with the first meeting planned for early February 2012 (negotiable) in Melbourne.
