By Miss Leanne Boase
Category:

ACNP is in Canberra tonight for the Federal Budget announcements, and we have some good news for nurse practitioners!

Here is an overview of what to expect:

  1. 2 new MBS items for Nurse Practitioners - Longer consultations - 2 new MBS items (one face to face, and one Telehealth) for consultations over 60 minutes, to be introduced in 2025.
  2. $5.2M of training scholarships for LARC and IUD insertions and removals, to include Nurse Practitioners
  3. 11,000 scholarships for health professionals, including Nurse Practitioners, to undertake training in Menopause to improve women’s health
  4. Access to MBS subsidised pelvic ultrasound pre and post MS 2 Step for patients of Nurse Practitioners

Also a great update on Collaborative Arrangements - The Bill goes to the Senate this Thursday 16th May just after 12.00 midday. You can Livestream it here

We expect this will pass, and this means on 1st November 2024, Collaborative Arrangements are gone!

In addition to our recent announcement with the Primary Care Nursing and Midwifery Scholarships to be administered by ACNP, we should all celebrate

Here we are on the roof of Parliament today.
