Member Updates
Dear Member ACNP Updates, short surveys, a call for EOI, and our AGM reminder! Some important topics this week - MS 2 Step, Rural Palliative Care, and Gender Bias 1. MS 2 Step update and quick survey ACNP continues to work on required changes to fully enable prescribing of MS 2 step by Nurse Practitioners. We remind our members that in each State and Territory, changes still need to be made in relation to Abortion specific legislation prior to any prescriptions being written, even though TGA and PBS approval is in place already. Please wait for updates before prescribing. We are also working hard on ensuring patients of NPs can access MBS rebates on ultrasounds, often required for best practice in MTOP. We ask our members to complete this survey (about 2 minutes) to let us know if you think you will, or won’t be prescribing MS 2 step. 2. Call for Assistance ACNP is looking for a representative to join a National Reference Group for a newly funded National Palliative Care Project aimed at improving information and support for rural carers. ‘CarerHelp Rural Connect’ is a project funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care which aims to improve the information and resources available for rural families caring for someone towards the end of life to support them throughout their caring role and during bereavement. This project is being led by St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne who is partnering with the National Rural Health Alliance, Flinders University, and Grief Australia to deliver improved access to end of life information and support for rural families. NRG members will be expected to attend 3 online meetings per year (approximately 2 hours in length) for the 3 year project period. Please send your EOI to policy@acnp.org.au 3. The National Women’s Health Advisory Council, chaired by Assistant Minister Kearney, has launched the #EndGenderBias Survey to hear from women, experts and healthcare professionals to better understand the unique barriers and gender bias women face in Australia’s healthcare system. The Survey is available in 17 languages, with audio and video upload options also available. The Survey can be found at: https://www.health.gov.au/womens-health-advisory-council To assist with the launch and distribution of the Survey, a Stakeholder Information Kit has been developed and translated into 17 languages. The Department is seeking your assistance with distribution of the Stakeholder Information Kits through your networks. The Kits can be found at: https://www.health.gov.au/womens-health-advisory-council/resources For further information please contact womenshealth@health.gov.au 4.
