John Proper BPharm, MBA
John started his pharmacy career in Melbourne over 30 years ago.
He has worked across a broad range of clinical pharmacy positions including: Oncology & Haematology, Nuclear Medicine, Cardiac Care, Intensive Care, Paediatrics, and General Medicine and Surgery.
After completing an MBA, John has had several management positions including the Assistant Director of Pharmacy – Clinical at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane, and as the General Manager of Medication Packaging Systems. He has also owned his own community pharmacy at Narangba.
More recently John was the Senior Clinical Pharmacist at Redcliffe Hospital Emergency Department where he set up and developed the Pharmacy service to the ED.
Currently he is a Pharmacist Subject Matter Expert for the implementation of Electronic Medicines Management (Pyxis) across Metro North Hospital and Health Services.
He has published several peer reviewed journal articles and presented both oral presentations and posters at many different conferences over the years.
John has lectured to both undergraduate and post graduate courses on a range of medicines management topics.
John is married to Melanie, a Nurse Practitioner, and has two teenage children.
In his spare time John is a baseball umpire and rowing umpire; and enjoys camping, and good food and wine.
