New Adrenaline Devices on the PBS
Two new adrenaline (epinephrine) devices are now available on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) in Australia, in addition to EpiPen® and Anapen® adrenaline injector devices:
- neffy® (1 mg and 2 mg) adrenaline nasal spray devices - PBS listed from 1st July 2026
- Jext®(150 mcg and 300 mcg) adrenaline injector devices - PBS listed from 1st June 2026

Updated ASCIA Anaphylaxis Refresher Video
The updated ASCIA Anaphylaxis Training Refresher video provides access to the latest information about anaphylaxis and how to use all available adrenaline devices. It is free and can be watched anytime by anyone. This includes patients and carers, which include parents, guardians, staff in schools or children’s education/care (CEC), and people working in community organisations.
This video is based on the ASCIA Anaphylaxis Refresher e-training course for schools, CEC and community and provides training which:
- Takes less than 20 minutes to watch
- Can help you to save a person’s life
- Has been developed by ASCIA, the experts in anaphylaxis training
ASCIA TAPID Collaboration Update
Associate Professor Theresa Cole has been Chair of the ASCIA TAPID (Transplantation and Primary Immune Deficiency) collaboration since 2014, after it commenced in 2013. Her leadership has contributed to the success of TAPID, as an ongoing expert group facilitated by ASCIA, between clinical immunologists, transplant physicians and international experts.
At the end of July Theresa will return to the UK to take up a senior position in PID transplantation in Newcastle upon Tyne. Whilst we will greatly miss her outstanding leadership, expertise and dedication, we congratulate Theresa on her important new role.
Theresa has made immense contributions to ASCIA, the Immunodeficiency Strategy and the field of clinical immunology, particularly in PID transplantation (where she played a transformative role) over the past 14 years. It has always been a great pleasure for the ASCIA team to work with Theresa, not only on TAPID, but also as a past Chair of the ASCIA Immunodeficiency committee, ASCIA Director and ASCIA President.
We welcome Dr Peter McNaughton as the new Chair of TAPID, and look forward to Theresa’s continued involvement with ASCIA, now as an international expert.
ASCIA IEI Molecular Diagnosis Publication
The ASCIA Consensus Statement on IEI Molecular Diagnosis has been published in the Journal of Human Immunity (JHI) https://doi.org/10.70962/jhi.20250250
Genomic testing has transformed the diagnosis and management of inborn errors of immunity (IEIs). However, there remains limited guidance for clinicians on which patients should undergo testing.
ASCIA has developed this consensus statement to support clinicians to identify patients who may benefit from genomic testing for suspected IEI. The overall aim is to improve diagnostic accuracy, access to timely interventions, and outcomes for people with IEI.

The Economic and Social Cost of Allergic Disease
Costly Reactions: The economic and social cost of allergic disease in Australia is a report developed in 2025 by Deloitte Access Economics for ASCIA and the National Allergy Council. Whilst it was launched in September 2025, it has been brought to our attention that the 2025 launch may have been missed by some people. Therefore we take this opportunity to highlight the key findings of this report, which include:
- More than 8.2 million (30% of Australians) were reported to have allergic disease in 2024 (this has doubled since the previous report from 2007).
- Financial costs of allergic disease were $18.9 billion in 2024 and 80% of costs were linked to lost productivity.
- Non-financial (well-being) costs of allergic disease were $44.6 billion in 2024.
My Health Record Changes
Important health information continues to be made available through My Health Record, giving patients and carers in Australia greater access to their key health information.
From July 2026, pathology and diagnostic imaging providers are now required to upload reports to My Health Record by default, unless an exception applies. Some tests may still have a short delay before they are visible.
